Improving passing accuracy aIm


to develop passing accuracy when working with young children aged 7-12.
CoaChIng methodology Explanation, role, and importance; Demonstration; Imitation; Stand and assess the two pairs. Gradually increase the distance between the players. Continue to observe the pairs as they pass the rolling ball first time. Develop the drill by getting the players moving to receive the pass, gradually increasing the power of the passes. BoDy poSItIon 1. the leg which has to support the main weight as you pass or shoot the ball is positioned 10-20cm from the ball, slightly bent at the knee. 2. the foot of the kicking leg is turned at a 90-degree angle from the weightsupporting leg and moves parallel to the ground. 3. At the moment of the shot, the body and the hands move in the opposite direction from the kicking leg. 4. the body leans slightly forward, backwards or can be straight, depending on the required force of the shot or pass to reach its intended target. Here, the body is shown leaning backwards as the ball has to travel a greater distance. GAmES to begin with, we will look at shots from the inside part of the foot. Further variations can be applied in due course. a. How many times can you hit/knock down the cone in X minutes (in different ways of shooting)? b. How many times can you hit/knock down the cone in X minutes with incorrect position of the leg? c. Work in pairs, at a distance of 15-20m. In the middle between the players there is a 50cm-wide goal marked with plastic cones. one point is awarded for kicking the ball into the goal. the one to get the ball into the goal the most times wins.

knocking down Plastic cones

players should move around a restricted playing area, where a number of cones are positioned in a row. players must dribble the ball and attempt to knock down a cone by striking the ball against it from a distance of 3-5m with the inside of the boot. Each player who successfully does this then has to put the cone back into an upright position.

shooting at the goal

It is not usual to shoot the ball with the inside part of the foot as a very strong shot at the goal. Coaches should avoid shots with the inside part of the foot when training children of this age since they cause pain in the groin and may cause trauma if the muscles are not prepared and developed.

Passing the ball to one another

a. passing while both stationary b. move towards and away from the ball. the ball is passed first time after approaching it, before you then retreat away from it. c. Develop the drill to include movement around a playing area of 16x16m. Both players must still pass first time. d. Stopping the ball with various parts of the foot. e. If possible, the ball is passed at the first contact after approach, and then retreat takes place.

Ensure that a healthy competition is maintained, by giving recognition to the winner. Adhere to the correct body position.
