Net Promoter Score. The net promoter score is a scale from -100% to 100% that determines the net percentage of promoters a company has. People are polled about a company and asked to give a rating from 1 to 10 (1 being low, and 10 being high). Promoters are people who give a company a 9 or a 10. Detractors are people who give a company a rating of 1 through 6. Neutral votes (7 and 8) are not counted in the NPS calculation. The net promoter score equals the percentage of promoters minus the percentage of detractors. If 20 people are polled, with 10 being promoters and 2 being detractors, then the net promoter score is equal to 10/20 - 2/20 = 8/20 = 40%. Companies with a high Net Promoter Score are said to grow faster and be healthier than companies with low net promoter score.
