Dovilla Offers Sponsor Testimony in Support of Cybersecurity and Economic Development Council
COLUMBUSState Representative Mike Dovilla (R-Berea) today testified before the House Economic and Small Business Development Committee in support of House Bill 331, legislation he introduced to establish the Cybersecurity, Education, and Economic Development Council. Dovilla, a U.S. Navy intelligence officer, introduced House Bill 331 in order to address the growing incidents of cybersecurity attacks on state agencies and private industry and to help generate new jobs in information technology, one of the fastest growing fields in todays job market. The primary reason I ran for state representative was to be part of a team that would implement policies to restore a business-friendly environment and spur economic development and job creation, said Dovilla. If Ohios critical infrastructure is at risk, it could inhibit our ability to create that sort of positive economic climate. Addressing such vulnerabilities while leveraging job creation opportunities in a growing field are why this Council is necessary. House Bill 331, which had 14 bipartisan cosponsors upon introduction, will create the Cybersecurity, Education, and Economic Development Council for the purpose of studying the states cybersecurity operations and offering recommendations to accelerate job creation in the cybersecurity industry. It will remain before the Economic and Small Business Development Committee for additional hearings in the coming weeks. -30Editors note: A copy of Representative Dovilla's testimony before the Economic and Small Business Development Committee of the Ohio House of Representatives may be found at http://www.scribd.com/doc/74199376/Sponsor-Testimony-ofRepresentative-Mike-Dovilla-Regarding-Cybersecurity-and-Economic-DevelopmentCouncil.
