Jesus: More Than a Prophet

Should = a statement of commitment

Be shown the truth of salvation demands a response (Acts

3:17-23, 1 Pe. 2:7-8)

Repent, be forgiven/healed (Acts 3:19)

Some 82% of Americans say that they are Christians. Yet our
churches, society, personal lives don’t seem to reflect that.

Jesus is:

Like the prophets in that:

He traveled

He preached repentance (Like John the Baptist)

In the face of certain judgement (Like Elijah)

Not Elijah, but “in the spirit of” Elijah (Luke 1:15-17, Matt.
11:11-14)

Whereby sins would be wiped out (Acts 3:19)

That involved a different way of thinking

 That was intimately related to faith

He had large followings

Boldly spoke the truth

He confronted people regarding:

Biblical values

Dedication to the covenant

Commitment to God

He performed signs

He made statements concerning future events

Some of which have been fulfilled

Others of which have yet to be fulfilled (but will be!)

Christ/Messiah “Anointed/Chosen One” (John 1:41)

The fulfillment of prophecy (Matt. 12:19-21, John 1:45)

The restoration of all things (Acts 3:21)

The “master-key” to the door of God’s forgiveness

Not in the political sense some were expecting and hoping for

The “Suffering Savior” (Isaiah 53, Jer. 11:19, Dan 9:26, Zech. 13:7, Ps.
22, Acts 3:18)

A ransom for many

Where is the Lamb? (Gen. 22:7)

Who bears/takes away the sin of the world

bear/carry off/remove a heavy burden,

Servant/Minister (Matt. 20:28)

Teacher

The Way

The only way!

The Truth

The Life

The living water

First fruit the resurrection

Lord of All

Judge

Will separate the sheep from the goats

The Son of God (Matt. 16:16, John 6:69)

God himself said so (Mark 9:7)

Demons also acknowledged this (Mark 1:24, 3:11, 5:7)
