1. (a) What is the difference between the grass sample and the laboratory sample
with reference to solids?
(b) Describe various methods of reduction of bulk sample.

2. (a) Mention the factors that should be taken into consideration in choosing an
analytical method.
(b) Give the advantages and disadvantages of classical methods of analysis.

3. How is Copper determined in Brasses, Aluminium Broznes and Nickel Silvers?

4. (a) Explain the estimation of Tungsten in steels.


(b) Describe the gravimetric method of analysis for Nickel in Iron and Steel.

5. Explain how the estimation of MnO2 in pyrolusite is carried out. Give the necessary
chemical equations.

6. What is BEER-Lambert law? With a schematic diagram of optical system of a


UV-Spectrophotometer indicate it’s essential components. Also explain its working
principle.

7. (a) Draw the schematic diagram of a double beam spectrophotometer & explain
the functions of its components.
(b) How is Iron determined by a spectrophotometer method.

8. Write short notes on:

(a) Electro - Analysis.
