Introduction Adolescence — Passage from childhood to adulthood- 10 - 19 years. Early adolescence — 10 - 14 years. 30% of world population. In developing countries: half of them — females. 1/3 of adolescent girls in India — anaemic. Teenage pregnancy,illegal pregnancy,illegal abortion,HIV,STD — increased in adolescent group. Despite societal variations in socio economic status, level of education®& cultural beliefs that exist in each country,the task of adolescents is same, that is to become functioning & competent adults. How successfully the adolescent achieves adulthood is affected by -local®ional socioeconomic factors -cultural practices in that society > Adolescents may reach the age defined as adulthood, but the cognitive ability &psychosocial dev. may be deficient Objectives “The primary objectives were -To asses the awareness regarding reproductive anatomy/physiclogy/contraception *Menstrual hygiene -AIDS HIV &STD awareness
