Lunch and Learn * Mondays at 12:00 noon, beginning on Oct.

10, 2011 The weekly Torah portion is a locked vault with treasures inside. Unfortunately, too many Jews have forgotten the combination. Rabbi Eli Garfinkel will teach you how to open the vault of the weekly portion and how to enjoy the wealth of learning contained therein. Although the focus of the class will be on translated primary sources, no Hebrew language ability is required for this class. Pizza Torah for Teens * Thursdays from 5:45 pm to 6:45 pm, beginning on Nov. 3, 2011 Teenagers often miss out on Jewish educational opportunities during these critically formative years. What teenagers learn about their identity and heritage has an enormous impact on the choices they make as adult Jews. Rabbi Eli Garfinkel will lead a weekly group discussion on the topics that teenagers care about most. Oh, yeah, and there will be pizza, too! Jewish Singing * Tuesdays from 8:00 to 9:00 pm: Nov. 1, 15, 22; Dec. 6, 13 Learn to sing a variety of Jewish songs, from Israel folk songs to Shabbat zemirot! No knowledge of Hebrew is required, and transliteration will be available for all lyrics. (If we sound good enough, maybe we'll release an album!) Sex, Truth, No Videotape * Tues. from 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm: Jan. 10, 17, 24; Feb. 7, 14, 21 What do Jewish tradition and wisdom really have to say about controversial sexual issues? You'll find out in this text and discussion based class. Middot: How To Be A Good Person * Tues, 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm: March 6, 13, 20 Most of us are basically good people, but how do you teach somebody to be good? What characteristics, habits, and traits lead to the formation of a good soul? This class will present you with the chance to discuss these questions and learn some possible answers. TBE Film Class * 8:00 to 9:30 pm * Oct. 25, Nov. 29, Jan. 31, Feb. 28, Mar. 27, Apr. 24, May 29 The Temple Beth El Film Class is back by overwhelming popular demand! Well watch and discuss movies and documentaries that speak to the state of Jewish life in our day. These are movies that are not available at Blockbuster or any other retail chain, and many of them are award-winning masterpieces.
