TRAIN DISPATCHER TRAINEE

SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Responsible for the movement of trains, supervise forces employed in the movement of trains; keep necessary records incident thereto; and perform related work. Responsible for the safety objectives, goals and program of the organization, ensuring compliance with applicable safety rules and regulations. Hours and days are as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess a minimum of one (1) year experience within the last ten years working as a control operator, yardmaster, train dispatcher, engineer, conductor, trainmaster, air traffic controller, maritime dispatcher, power station load dispatcher, or other similar position in a transportation related field requiring critical thinking and decision making skills in a stressful environment. Must have working knowledge of the General Code of Operating Rules or other applicable rules and regulations. Applicants must also be able to work with minimum supervision and have the ability to make decisions under stressful circumstances. Good communication skills and good color vision are required. Must be available for all shifts including holidays, weekends and short notice calls. Must be able to type 25 wpm.

This position is subject to random drug and alcohol testing. A background check will be conducted regarding drug and alcohol testing history on candidates who have worked for agencies subject to DOT regulations.
