Complete the following passage to describe the electrolysis of lead

bromide. Use the words from the box at the bottom to complete the
passage.

When lead bromide is it contains free

of lead and bromine. Lead is a so it forms
ions. Bromine is a so it forms ions. The
ions are attracted to the negative
where they gain to form metal. The
ions are attracted to the positive where
they lose to form gas.

Use these words:

ions non-metal lead electrode

electrons bromine molten metal
positive negative bromide

When lead bromide is molten it contains free ions of lead and

bromine. Lead is a metal so it forms positive ions. Bromine is a
non-metal so it forms negative ions. The lead ions
are attracted to the negative electrode where they gain
electrons to form lead metal. The bromide ions
are attracted to the positive electrode where they lose electrons to
form bromine gas.
