1. He lived In Sherwood forest. 2. He was a 13th century superhero. 3. He took money from the rich and gave it to the poor. 4. The year 1377 is the earliest reference to Robin Hood, in William Langland's poem, "The vision of William concerning Piers Plowman". Other historical evidence places Robin anywhere between 1190 - 1307. Some ballads mention that Robin Hood was born in Locksley town, Nottinghamshire. 5. Robin used a longbow as his weapon made of the English "yew" tree. 6. Some say Robin was killed by his princess cousin, in Yorkshire. She was having an affair and bled Robin to death under the guise of medicinal healing to keep him out of the way of her indiscretions. 7. St. Mary's Church in Edwinstowe is said to be the "church in the forest" where Robin married Marian. 8. It was on the Market Square that Robin took advantage of an amnesty and won the coveted silver arrow in a contest devised by the Sheriff. 9. In the fifteenth century, Robin Hood became associated with May Day celebrations; people would dress as Robin or as other members of his band for the festivities. 10. The Victorian era generated its own distinct versions of Robin Hood. The traditional tales were often adapted for children, most notably in Howard Pyle's Merry Adventures of Robin Hood.
