Without idolizing those people, we can see in their lives examples of how to live for God today. God often accomplishes His purposes today through the leadership of committed individuals in our churches. Unit 2, “God Works Through Committed Individuals,” is a study of the Book of Nehemiah, including both Nehemiah and Ezra as people dedicated to God. This unit includes the Sanctity of Human Life lesson. “Working Cooperatively” (Dec. 31) stresses that we can accom- plish more for God’s purposes when we work together. “Devising Strategies” (Jan. 7) highlights the need to develop strategies for overcoming difficulties we face in carrying out God’s purposes. “Re- dedicating Lives” (Jan. 14) focuses on our human need to rededicate ourselves to the tasks God has assigned to us. “Valuing Every Life” (Jan. 21) is the Sanctity of Human Life lesson and reminds us to value every human being. “Keeping Commitments” (Jan. 28) un- derscores our responsibility to follow through on our commitments to God, including the tithe and honoring the Lord’s Day.
