Classes Needed: Five session of 90 minute classes Procedures: After making it through Drawing Bootcamp!, you will now be challenged to put your drawing skills to the test AND to add some new skills to the mix. 1.Using contour lines, draw a variety of objects, including hands. Draw A LOT - you will not use all the drawings but will need to be able select from your best work. 2.Make sure to consider the accuracy of your drawing - are you REALLY looking at the objects as you draw? DONT make up information that is not there! 3.Consider also, line quality (weight) because this can make a real difference in the accuracy/look of your drawing. 4.Cut out your best drawings and begin to arrange them on the background paper. Remember what we talked about re: Composition and the Elements of Art and Principles of Design. Arrange and re-arrange your drawings until you find a strong composition.Remember Rule of Thirds! 5.Think about other ways to add to the look/meaning of your composition - other types of paper, additional drawings, decorative elements, etc. 6.When you are SURE that you have it all the way you want it, carefully glue all the pieces together. Craftsmanship is essential - be neat! 7.See the attached rubric for grading guidelines.

Vocabulary:
Contour- The outline and other visible edges of a mass, figure or object. Craftsmanship- The quality of what a person does. Craftsmanship is most admired when a person creates with skill or dexterity, usually with the hands, whether with or without tools. Composition- The plan, placement or arrangement of the elements of art in a work. It is often useful to discuss these in reference to the principles of design, as well as to the relative weight of the composition's parts. Line quality- A mark with length and direction Background- The part of a picture or scene that appears to be farthest away from the viewer, usually nearest the horizon. This is the opposite of the foreground. Between background and foreground is the middle ground. Rule of Thirds- A guideline for balancing a composition that states that the bigger the mass, the more toward the center of an artwork it should be placed. Similarly, the smaller the mass, the more toward the edge it should be placed.
