About College

Sri Venkateswara College, popularly called Venky is a premier college of University of Delhi. Founded under the auspices of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Trust in 1961, the college has grown into one of the leading educational institutes in the country. It is one of the few colleges in India to be recognized by UGC as College with Potential for Excellence. The college has been consistently ranked amongst the best colleges of India by leading newspapers and magazines. In the Channel V India Fest 2011 held at Goa, it was adjudged as the Best college of North India in Cultural Activities All cultural societies of the college come under the parent society, Fine Arts Association, which handles the day to day affairs of these societies and also organizes the annual intercollege festival, NEXUS.

About Alaap
Classical music is never out of fashion. Its rich texture and traditional roots binds itself to us, as it sings of our lives and culture. Alaap the Indian music society of SVC is dedicated to the revival, appreciation and practice of the Indian classical, biased and fusion. It came into existence in 2004 through collective efforts of the students of our college. It is now one of the best music societies of DU. and has some of the finest musicians. Today it is band of 15 members, carefully selected every year through several rounds of auditions taken by the senior members. As they perform, they bring to the audience a wholesome feast of MUSIC to awaken and thrill their senses. A society of expertise and professionalism, when performs leaves the audience in nothing short of a trance.

Society Achievements
It is the only college in India to have made a record at being victorious at the national event held at AIIMS consecutively for the last 4 years since 2007. Winner at IIT Delhi for 5 straight years since 2006. 1st position at NLSIU, Bangalore 2010 1st position at Lady Shri Ram College, DU 2010 2nd position at Sri Venkateswara College, DU 2010. 2nd position at Kirori Mal College, DU 2010 2nd position at IP College for Women, DU 2010 3rd position at Miranda House, DU 2010 Performed at Common wealth games 2010 as the band FUSION SYNC. Alumni members of this society are now a part of popular bands such as FIRE EXIT and ADVAITA.
