2008 Holiday Adoption Policy

The San Diego Armed Services YMCA greatly appreciates the generosity of the San
Diego community. In order to best meet the needs of our junior enlisted military
community we have adopted the following policy.

Each generous donor will be assigned a military family. The donor will receive the age
and gender of each child along with a list of “wishes” for each family member, including
the parents. Families will be assigned no later than November 21, 2008.

The donor agrees to purchase a minimum of $250 worth of gifts for each family. The
donor is not expected to purchase every gift on the wish list but should use it as a guide to
purchase age and gender appropriate gifts that meet the family’s needs and interests.

Donated gifts must be new and must arrive at the ASYMCA unwrapped.

The ASYMCA will not accept actual food donations of any kind. A donation of a
grocery store or commissary gift card is greatly appreciated should the donor like to
provide food resources. Donors should not include the value of the grocery gift cards as
part of their minimum $250 donation.

The donor is responsible for delivering the gifts to the ASYMCA by December 12, 2008.

Donations are tax deductible. The ASYMCA will provide the donor with a receipt but
will not estimate the value of the donated gifts. This is to be determined by the donor in
conjunction with the IRS.

Throughout the process the confidentiality of the adopted family is protected. The
ASYMCA strictly adheres to professional ethics and California state laws that prohibit
the agency from revealing any personal information about the family to the donor.

We hope that this policy will help to make the Holiday Adoption Program a joyful and
meaningful experience for both the donors and the adopted families.

By signing this policy you agree to follow these guidelines and to commit to “adopting” a
military family.
