html Peter Amschel Thanks for your description of what the Colorado River was like before it was ru ined by all the plugs and diversions. When the Colorado is an open river again i t will be as K.C. & The Sunshine Band sing: "That's the Way, uh huh, We Like It" . I've heard that some of the other historical features of the open Colorado were: a seaway where sailing ships travelled from San Felipe to Palm Springs and wher e the end point of the waterway near Palm Springs was known as Lake Cahuilla; wh ere there was the most spectacular tidal bore of any river on earth, combing mig htily all the way from the gulf to the Salton Sink; where the river delta, with its desert environment and the cold Rocky Mountain fresh waters and the rich sed iments rushing into the Sea of Cortez resulted in an area incomparable in its be auty and wildlife,, where black jaguars lived on the land and 400 lb fish lived in the waters. I liked your expression "the handwriting on the wall" where you noted that the 1 905 dams were a portent for the ruination of the river. Your expression is taken from the grafitti incident which occurred in the days of Daniel. Another articl e in today's Press-Enterprise considers whether grafitti is art or vandalism but , as in Daniel's day, the magically appearing grafitti is neither art nor vandal ism but is a message which says, when translated, "your systems have been examin ed on the balance and they have been found to suck and are being brought to an e nd". This time instead of being replaced by the kingdom of the Persians as in Da niel's day, today's systems will be replaced by the Kingdom of God. God is Great ! The river will flow!
