Method statement for insulation works (PU Injection)

1. Scope of work To define the method for executing insulation works 2. Responsibility Site Engineer, Safety Engineer, Site Supervisor

3. Description of work The tested vessels and piping shall be insulated as per approved procedures. 3.1 Aluminum jacket rolls are to be formed as per pipes shapes, curves or slopes. Fit in with insulation spacer or reinforced wood. Aluminum thickness is 0.6mm for below 200mm diameter pipes while 0.8mm for pipes 200mm diameter above and vessels 3.2 The dummy insulation spacer and reinforce wood, should be identical to shapes and height on a required insulation thickness of the pipes and vessels. Fix it in star formation or diagonal spacing. 3.3 Cladding joints should be round groove and overlap, fix with self-tapping screw and blind rivets, seal all joints with mastic (silicon). 3.4 Before PU injections, machine should be calibrated by pouring an amount of PU chemicals in a garbage bag, allow to foam until cure in normal condition. Cut 10cm x 10cm x 10cm from the test material to determine the density, chemical ratio, injection flow rate and amount of chemical to pour in cladding space. 3.5 With high pressure injection machine, chemicals are to be poured in allocated nozzle hole to foam until it reaches the end part. Allow few amounts to fill all space or expand properly before closing the cladding. 3.6 Repeat the injection on every certain area of cladded pipe as per injection machine nozzle speed. 3.7 Check by hand tap or slight press to cladding surface to determine if there are envelopes. If found, peel the cladding for the particular area, and repeat the same procedure for cladding and injection. Note: Areas with valves or with bolt joint are not included in this procedure. Pre-fabricated insulations are to be shaped and covered with aluminum cladding

4. EQUIPMENTS REQUIRED 4.1 Sheet rollers 4.2 Rivet gun 4.3 PU injection machine

5. HEALTH , SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL MEASURES 5.1 All works shall be carried out in accordance with our site specific safety manual. 5.2 The debris from the site shall be collected and deposited at the main contractors debris collection area on the same day to ensure cleanliness and tidiness in the site. 6. REFERENCE DOCUMENTS 6.1 Approved shop drawings. 6.2 Approved material submittal.
