Overview of the App-V Sequencing Process The App-V sequencing process consists of a number of steps, as outlined in Figure 1.

It is recommended that you familiarize yourself with the installation and execution of the application prior to sequencing. Be sure to read all installation instructions associated with the application. It is also recommended that you learn how the application runs and the components of the application that the user will need. Note! The application to Sequencing should never have been installed on the Sequencing machine before the Sequencing. 1. Download the install sources to the Sequencer Desktop.

2. Start Sequencer: Select Create a Package:

3. Type a proper Package Name and Comment In most cases do NOT check the Show Advanced Monitor Options. For more information about that checkbox read App-46_Sequencing_Guide_Final.docx 4. Click Begin Monitor and select installation folder using 8.3 folder name, example: if you were sequencing Foxit PDF Reader, you could create Q:\Foxread.001

Install the application using the standard installation process but remember to install to the Q drive in all cases if its possible to select the installation path, do not install to the root of that drive but to a subfolder example: if your app's default install path is C:\Program Files\AppVendor\AppName\AppVersion\.... then you should change this while sequencing to Q:\UniquePKGROOT\AppVendor\AppName\AppVersion\. Then launch the application and customize all settings needed.

Check for autoupdates, licensing and so on 6. Click Stop Monitoring. 7. Configure the Application(s) added and its shortcuts and file association.

Add a shortcut to cmd.exe and place the shortcut in the main application Start Menu group. This is for troubleshooting purpose when testing the application after Sequencing and will be removed before deploying in production. For every OSD / shortcut in the package set the same version as the main application EXE has. 8. Do not Launch any application in the Launch Applications dialog.

9. In the Sequenced projects Deployment tab:

Select the OS in the Selected view and move it to Available view. Check the Generate MSI Package. 10. Save the package on the local computer and then copy the initial Sequencing to a network share for customization.
