In this system the library management becomes more efficient and esier to handle with its reliable system components. Many Library System are operated manually by group of people. In such situations many people in the process of managing the library such away that to keep records regarding to student's or barrowers, check the books normally, keep records on issued books etc. The proponents use the visual basic as a basic programming

language in a developing the system. Macromedia Flash will also be used for the design of the system. Reason of Choice Project: The proponents create this system to develop a system that can handle and manage the activities involved in library in an efficient and reliable way. Less managing personnel and easy searching availability and user profile managing are major goals in this project. The project is to develop a system that can replace the manual library managing system and developing a database which stores user details and book details. CHAPTER I PROJECT BACKGROUND Technologies are important and helpful in everyones life. Computers help people to do such things or tasks easily and faster. Technology has a systematic and organized way of keeping data records, computing numbers, accomplishing a lot of transactions and reports. A system of a library is made to have a fast process of transactions for searching book titles, borrowing books, returning books, computing penalties and generating an accurate report. Aguilar Catholic School, High school department is located at Poblacion Aguilar, Pangasinan. It is a religious school and the religion of all the students and staffs is Roman Catholic and their library is open for them. It has a collection of books, magazines, journals, dictionaries, encyclopedias and other reading materials. The library is still using a card catalogues in searching books and the librarian is still using manual transaction for borrowing, returning and generating reports. Using a manual process is a hard work and because of it the librarian is having a problem to serve each students and faculties who wish to use the library. Aguilar Catholic School is using a record book to track borrowed books from the library. The librarian will write down the book being borrowed, borrower, book information, date borrowed and the date returned. A penalty is given to the borrower if he/she loses the book; the due date of returning of the book has ended. The penalty for losing a book depends on the amount of the book and if the borrower returned the book after its due date the penalty is 10 pesos. The proponent observed a lot of errors occurring in their manual system. The librarian is having difficulty working in the library and the borrowers are having difficulty in searching the book. Chapter I Project Overview Introduction Nowadays, in a highly technological society, human productivity is made more efficient through the development of electronic gadgets. Now, with the advent of such modernization in education, one way to globalize the process of research is to realize that technology is advancing at an incredibly fast pace. Computers are not confined to being used for entertainment but its role in education is also vast. Library is derived from the old French term librairie which means a collection of books. Reading materials in school are stored in libraries. Library is a place in which books and related materials are kept for use but not for sale. It is also organized for use and maintained by a public body, an institution or a private individual. In addition, it is a place in which we get information in any format and from many sources. The librarian has to keep the room neat so that it is conducive for learning. The librarian is also the person who is liable for monitoring all the books that are borrowed and returned by the borrowers.

Project Background The Philippine Institute of Quezon City is a private school located in Banawe, Quezon City. They have a library, which according to their head librarian, Mrs.Dorie Domingo, is composed of 3,000 Circulation, Reference, Chinese Books and other reading materials being used by their more or less 700 students. The Head Librarian stated that they are currently using the Dewy Decimal Library System. The library users and the librarian still use card catalogues in searching for reading materials. Introduction Now, in our society all over the world technology is the most important advancement, a necessity in bringing about progress as we move along in this computerized world. These changes in effect make mans life easier and more convenient. The relationship between the library and computer is constantly changing that the use of computer contributes to the way man learns and communicates. It easy in this world to strive for changes and since library is no different from any firm and institution, considering the use of computer to perform a given task will be efficient. Librarians have the responsibility not only to know about the ways in which libraries will be managed using techniques of automation, but also to be aware of the changes that automation can bring to the library services in the near future. Thus, computer works in ways radically different from human beings and the flow of works in an automated system can differ quite considerably from that in the manual system. FEASIBILITY STUDY IT200L AT1 TECHNICAL FEASIBILITY The library system will be based on the old library system that they are using, but we will make it a new system for them to have an automated library system. This system could give no more hassle for the students. To integrate this

library system the proponent decided to use new software that will manage their library, it includes borrowing of books To create the library system, the developers will use Visual Studio 2010 using C# language for GUI and SQL server 2008 for the database. This software is compatible with windows operating systems. The school that will be using this library system will not have a hard time of borrowing their books using their library cards since their library system is not yet automated. OPERATIONAL FEASIBILITY Our client, Sacred Heart Academy Pasig, is still using the traditional manual Library system, where borrowers card is still used when borrowing books and paper documents are used for datas of students and books. Our client supports our system to make their library system automated. Our conducted survey for the schools students and faculties shows that 80% are in favor of the automated library system and thinks that it can help improve the schools library. Most of the students does not have a library card, meaning they dont borrow books from the library system, with our proposed automated system, they dont need to purchase a library card, they only need their student number to borrow books from the library, and it reduces the time of the operation every time somebody will borrow and return books, since the librarian will only input and save the data in the database, no more papers and files to find.
