WEAKNESSES

The process is tedious and time consuming. -It takes a long time for a diarist to provide enough entries and the researcher needs to re-read the entries many times to find the regular patterns.

 It relies heavily on the diarists willingness to complete the diary. -If the diarist keeps the diary infrequently, the data collected may not be enough for analysis Limitations of introspection -The diarist may not want their thoughts and feelings to be published . - So they might make up their entries to cater to the researcher s needs

Risk of delay between event occurrence and recording The participants will not record data which they feel are not related to the study. - The participants may try to guess what the researcher is interested in and complete the diary accordingly (Reiman, 1993)

Not all diary study participants know proper method of completing paper or using the equipments that are given to them.
