O WRETCHED IS THE AGE By David Ramrez O wretched is the age when the Pomegranate tree has dried. It bares no fruit. It stands naked, leafless. The bark is falling into pieces. We long for its ruby jewels, brightly speckled red, plump thirst quenching game of seeds. O, what has happened to the rivers of Jordan Tigris Guadalquivir flowing into it? What has happened? The implacable noonday sun is upon us; WHITE PIERCING MERCILESS sun. And there is no shadow under which to take refuge. The damning sun that flays us open, while it sets in our eyes the mirage of neverland which is still all desert. Have we reached yet the Holy Land? Or do we still lie lost, far from its reigns? No da ningn fruto. Ah est desnudo, sin hojas. La corteza se resquebraja en pedazos. Anhelamos por sus joyas de rub, centellante marrn brillante, cargado juego de semillas que satisfacen la sed. O, qu ha pasado con los ros del Jordn Tigris Guadalquivir en l desembocando? Qu ha pasado? El implacable sol de medioda est ante nosotros; BLANCO QUEMANTE INMISERICORDIOSO sol. Y no hay sombra bajo la cual podamos tomar refugio. El maldito sol que nos desuella abiertos, mientras pone en nuestros ojos el espejismo de la tierra del nunca jams que es an un todo desierto. Hemos llegado a la Tierra Prometida? O estamos todava perdidos, lejos de su reino? Las Granadas se han secado. Los adornos a la palabra de Dios tiradas y vacas se encuentran,
