Reaction Paper Unity can be achieved either thru coercion or the common people having a common enemy.

The former and the latter are similar in the threat required to bring them into submission of unity, although threat is the tool to unity, in the end it is unity nonetheless. The Martial Law era is the perfect example, the common hate towards the government was the key to unite the people to oust the president, the common people having a common enemy . There is another way to achieve unity through disillusioning the common people to unite. This method is much more humane than coercion. In the early stages of unity, different reactions are expected from certain individuals. Some are loyal to the end, some are just there driven by their impulse, some are there just for the ride but unity nonetheless. Although it is through a united collective force to overthrow a power hungry government but the pawns used to overthrow the government namely the people must also be taken into consideration. Like their lives afterwards, their connection back to society, to each other and most importantly their family. In the film, the aftermath was worse compared to their lives in the martial law era. Lost daughters, the lies, the truth that they are hiding, the betrayal and the worst of them all, as if nothing has changed after the martial law. In the film at first we thought that it was the hatred for the government that spurned the youth to revolt, but in the later part it was the teachers who disillusioned them. Teachers telling them to have critical thinking through protesting but at what cost? It is folly to take a cause and never expecting serious consequences. It would have been better if they have sided against an oppressive government and survive than showing off that you are a rebel but a coward deep inside.
