In the novel Robinson Crusoe the 2 contrasting character are Robinson Crusoe himself and Friday.

Robinson Crusoe was portrayed as a well-educated and resourceful man. On the other hand, Friday was illiterate and a savage whom Robinson Crusoe saved from the cannibals. Robinson Crusoe was civilized man who ran away to the sea when he was only eighteen. He was shipwrecked on an island but managed to survive on an unhabited island for more than twentyeight years. Even though Friday did not display such traits, Robinson Crusoe saved him from the savages. Friday had values of gratitude and kindness, as evidenced by kneeling down and kissing the ground and putting Robinson Crusoes foot upon his head after Robinson Crusoe saved him from his captors. Friday proved to be faithful to Robinson Crusoe. Friday wanted to be Robinson Crusoes slave to repay his kindness. Robinson Crusoe, being a kind-hearted man, did not accept such a move. Instead, he made Friday his friend companion. Despite both having contrasting characteristic, Robinson Crusoe was ever willing to change Friday. Knowing that Friday was a cannibal, Robinson Crusoe made him eat cooked meat. He taught him about God and many other things. At the end, they loved each other and cherished their friendship
