COURSE DESCRIPTION Badminton is an indoor sport that can be played by either singles or doubles. Badminton is the world fastest racket sport. To play the sport, one must possess speed, power, agility, flexibility, a great sense of anticipation and excellent body coordination. This course aims to teach the practical and theoretical aspect of the sport. There will be an emphasis on the execution of proper stance and form. At the middle of the semester, the students will be introduced to some basic tactics in which they are expected to apply during singles and doubles play. They are also expected to know the rules of badminton for better appreciation of the game. COURSE GOALS At the end of the semester the students should be able to: 1. Discuss the history and the Rules of Badminton. 2. Properly execute all the necessary skills to play the game. 3. Demonstrate basic tactics and apply them properly. 4. Appreciate a strong and healthy body. 5. Enjoy and appreciate the game. 6. Maintain the cleanliness and order of the area.

EQUIPMENT: Shuttlecock nylon & feather. Badminton racket. UNIFORM: UP PE Uniform / shorts / jogging pants / socks and rubber shoes. ***INDEX FORMAT*** 3 X 5 INDEX CARD

PRACTICAL EXAMS 110PTS = 35% Maximum of SIX (6) ABSENCES, late/s included (2 LATES = 1 ABSENT) MORE than SIX (6) MUST DROP or 5.0! Must give the INSTRUCTORS COPY if students drops the subject *Be responsible for your absence/s* *The teacher reserves the right to drop the student with reasonable cause* *Must present medical clearance/excuse upon return to class* *Out-of-town/country trips scheduled for other classes will NOT BE CONSIDERED!* Static Footwork: The student is required to complete Twenty (20) successful and consecutive returns in 5 attempts with partner
