TUTORIAL : 5 Chemical Bonding TOPIC : 5.4 Intermolecular Forces IMF

OBJECTIVES:
(a) Describe intermolecular forces
i. van der Waals forces:
• dipole-dipole interactions or permanent dipole
• London forces or dispersion forces
ii. Hydrogen bonding.
(b) Explain factors that influence van der Waals forces.
(c) Explain the effects of hydrogen bonding on the following physical properties:
i. boiling point
ii. solubility
iii.density of water compared to ice.
(d) State the following properties of metal:
i. malleability
ii. ductility
iii. electrical conductivity
iv. thermal conductivity
(e) Explain the formation of metallic bond using electron sea model.
(f) Explain the factors that affect the strength of metallic bond.
(g) Explain the effect of the strength of metallic bonding on boiling point.

REFLECTION :
Today are 8th days fasting for Muslims in Ramadhan al Mubarak. Syukur Alhamdulillah
I finished to cover this chapter same as others tutorial class that I teach. Firstly I discuss
the tutorial then I does quiz 6 for the students. At the end of the class, I asked the students
to summit the tutorial answers. The weather outside is cloudy. The class goes on well.

NOTES :
Quiz 6 set A chapter 5: Chemical bonding 45 minutes.
Next week continue with tutorial 6.0 Chemical Equilibrium. Insya 4W1.
