Seeking Passionate Directors for Dd’s First Board

In 2008, we built Digital Democracy (Dd) on a simple but powerful idea:
Technology should be used to empower communities around the world to
engage in democratic action — locally, nationally and internationally. As Dd
transitions from operating with a fiscal sponsor to independent 501(c)3
status and builds an inaugural board of directors, we seek directors
passionate about our work in the most marginalized communities who are
ready to help us grow and work effectively.

We seek nominations for an active board of five to seven directors who have:
• Dedication to Dd’s mission and the potential for technology
to further human rights, freedom of expression and civic
participation globally
• Experience that can serve Dd’s needs as we grow
• Interest in learning from our research, expertise, and future
work around digital tools and human rights
• Expertise in (at least one): business, finance, legal,
technology, non-profit management, fundraising, international
development.

We are eager to meet nominees who will be collaborative partners and

voting directors. Responsibilities for the two-year term, with opportunity for
reappointment, will include:
• Participating in an annual retreat for board members
• Attending a total of three quarterly video conference board
meetings
• Personal meaningful annual financial donations to
Dd (the amount to be set individually with the Executive
Director)
• Helping Dd raise funds through donations, endorsements
and introductions
• Willingness to advise and vote on strategic issues
