ASSIGNMENT 1

ANSWER ALL THE QUESTIONS BELOW.

1. Calculate the percentage of error and the percentage of accuracy for a meter
volt below when the volt meter shows a reading at 6V.

R1
9V 2.2k Ω R2 R3
5.2kΩ 10kΩ V

2. Sketch a potentiometer circuit and explain how it is calibrated.

3. A two-dial potentiometer consists of 15 steps in the main dial, each valued at

10 Ω. Each resistor in the main dial represents 0.1V. The slide wire resistance
is 10 Ω and a scale of 200 parts. The working battery is 3V. Calculate :-
a. Working current, Iw
b. Range of measurement, Vmax
c. Value of rheostat adjustment, Rrheostat

4. Based on figure below, a potentiometer has a length of slide wire 200 cm and
overall resistance value is 100 Ω. A working battery voltage is 3 volt and
internal resistance is 10 Ω. This instrument is standardized with reference
voltage source (Es) of 1.018V and contactor is set to 101.8cm during
calibration process.
