Assessment Description

Simulations Project
Week 11

Digital Storybook of Earth

Students will create a digital story book about their learning experiences based on Earth
as their culminating assessment. To create the digital story book, students must reflect
on what they have learned about Earth through language arts, science, social studies
and math. They will form small collaborative teams to brainstorm, outline a story, gather
media, and publish a short digital story book that can be shared with family. Students
should tell the story from their point of view!

Each digital story book must be a minimum of 8-10 pages. Four of the total pages
should be dedicated to the four content areas, or one page per subject. On these
pages, students must cover 3 important concepts that they learned about Earth. There
must also be a minimum of 6-8 images or illustrations included. The rest of the story
book can be customized with a favorite season, land feature, plant or animal, poem,
math problem, or other favorite things students have learned about Earth.

Students will be provided with a checklist to help break down their project into smaller
tasks. The end-product will be evaluated with the help of a rubric that will also be
distributed to the students. Students’ digital story books will be graded on the following:
storyboard, content, technology use, collaboration, and proper citation of media used.
