SCHOOL OF PHARMACY

Mt Kenya University is the first private university in the region to be approved by the Government to offer Pharmacy (B Pharm) course. Bachelor of Pharmacy degree programme offered at Mount Kenya University has been granted pre-accreditaion candidate status by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board, of the Ministry of Medical Services.

Bachelor of Pharmacy (B Pharm) degree programme is well designed to provide graduates with core skills and knowledge required for effective participation in the delivery of Pharmaceutical care and the ability to undertake research. The degree programme covers the study of pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacology, pharmacognosy, pharmaceutics and clinical pharmarcy.

Graduates of this programme as Doctors will have the ability to serve the community and improve the quality standards of medicines. They will also have the opportunity, as professional pharmacists, to improve medical care, hence improving the lives of people.

Graduates in Teacher Education have employment opportunities in public schools and colleges through the Teachers Service Commission.Teachers already employed by the Teachers Service Commission are automatically upgraded upon acquiring higher qualifications unlike graduates from neighbouring countries who have to be subjected to an interview before any upgrading.
