Monster Project

Henry Ma

By completing this project, you should know how to:

1. Make Live an object

2. Draw a CV Curve
3. Close a CV Curve
4. Trim a surface with curve on surface
5. Trim Edge
6. Duplicate surface curve
7. Extrude
8. Duplicate object
Monster Project

Create a NURBS sphere.

Create > NURBS Primitives > Sphere

Make Live the NURBS sphere.

Select the sphere, Modify > Make Live

Create a CV Curve on the surface of the

sphere.

Create > CV Curve Tool

Close the surface curve.

Edit Curves > Open/Close Curves

Refine the surface shape by moving the

CV to appropriate position.

Make Not Live of the sphere. You should

see the curve on the surface.
Trim the other part of the surface and
leave the eyeglass surface.

Edit NURBS > Trim Tool, and select the

eyeglass surface then press [Return].

The eyeglass will leave and the other

surface will be disappeared.

Mouse over the eyeglass and right-mouse

click and select “Trim Edge”.

While the edge still in yellow color,

duplicate the surface curve.

Edit Curves > Duplicate Surface Curves

A new curve will be formed (look into the

Outliner for easy selection).
Create a new circle and reduce the scale
to size of the expected outer edges.

Create > NURBS Primitives > Circle

Extrude the circle along the new curve

derived from the edges of the eyeglass.

Select the circle then select the curves,

Surfaces > Extrude

The parameters should include:

• Tube
• At Path
• Component
• Profile Normal
• Complete
• NURBS

Group the eyeglass and extruded surface

into a single group.

You should duplicate the whole group in negative scale reverse axis, and then create a monster
face with modified CV.

Assign texture to the surface (if you are new to texture, you can assign a simple material from the
Hypershade to the different surfaces.
