ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONICS MEASUREMENT (160905)
Date: Time: Max. Marks – 30

Instruction:
1. Attempt all questions.
2. Make suitable assumptions wherever necessary.
3. Figures to the right indicate full marks.

Q-1(A) State the condition of bridge balance. What are the detector
used in bridge measurement and the essential requirements of
such detector? [6]

OR

Q-1(A) write a short not on: Anderson’s bridge.

[6]

Q-1(B) Why CT secondary should not keep open and what necessary
precautions should have to take.
[6]
OR

Q-1(B) briefly explain the following terms of instrument transformer

1) Ratio error
2) Phase angle error
[6]

Q-2(A) draw the circuit diagram of Wien’s bridge and derive the
expression for frequency at balance condition and state the
application of bridge. [6]

OR

Q-2(A) a sample of Bakelite is tested by Schering bridge it forms arm AB

of bridge. arm AD is made of a non-inductive resistor of 100
ohm. arm dc is made of a non-inductive resistor of 300 ohm
shunted by a capacitor of 0.5 µF and arm BC is made of a
slandered loss free capacitor of 100 µF. Supply frequency is 50
Hz. Bridge is balance with above components. Find out the
capacitance and power factor of the capacitor under test.
[6]

1
Q-2(B) draw the equivalent circuit and phasor diagram of potential
transformer with all necessary indications.
[6]
OR

Q-2(B) Gives the difference between current transformer and potential

transformer [6]

Q-3 Attempt any two.

[6]
(1) define the following terms:
A) accuracy
B) precision
C) sensitivity
(2)classification of errors

(3)Explain how the change in burden will affect the C.T. accuracy?

(4) A current through a resistor is 2.5 amp. But measurement yields a

value of 2.45 amp. Calculate the absolute error and the
percentage error of the measurement.

 BEST OF LUCK 
