INVITATIONAL SUMMER INSTITUTE

Central California Writing Project

June 22 - July 15, 2011 (We do not meet July 1 or 4.)
Monterey Bay Academy, 783 San Andreas Road, La Selva Beach, CA
Orientation Days: Apr. 13 eve. and May 14 morning
All experienced K-University teachers, including content teachers, are encouraged to apply.
Past participants include teachers of social studies, math, science, special education, art, music, and language arts.

 Your name and contact information (home address, email address, phone number)
 Your school, content areas(s) and grade level(s)
 Number of years teaching
 Describe one approach or strategy you use to teach writing and/or to help students
learn. Focus on what has worked for you and your students. Please explain your
thinking about this teaching approach, why you think it works, and any issues or
dilemmas it raises for you and your students.

that shares the classroom research he or
she will do the following school year.

A Strong Research Base Supports Our

Work and Our Conversations.

As professionals, we read, discuss and

write about current research, focusing on
current issues related to literacy instruction,
including the following topics:
 Equity, access, diversity and relevance
 Teaching academic and analytic reading
and writing
 Infusing writing into mandated
curriculum
 Responding to student writing
 Developing writing assignments that
motivate and engage students.
