I EPON
HiOSO Technology offers kinds of OLT and ONU, according to the growing bandwidth
requirements of access network and HFC Network Bi-directional transformation. HiOSO
EPON devices are developed to build a new fiber optic access network, adapt to kinds of

HiOSO OLT Feature

Large Capacity and Long Transmission Distance
Each PON System supports 10～20km transmission distance under high bandwidth. Each
PON line supports 1Gbps uplink and downlink symmetrical bandwidth and L2/L3
transmission capacity with full line speed.
High QoS
Each PON system supports maximum 256 Logical Link Identifier (LLID) and adopts
AES-128 encryption to each LLID; support DBA function and SLA management function;
support to debug different data flow through queue; support different stream weighting
coefficient to fully guarantee QOS.
Flexible Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation Function

HA7100 OLT can implement any change from 1M to 1G-access bandwidth,
supporting Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation (DBA) according to changeable requirement of
the customer and related service.
Powerful OAM Traits
HA7100 OLT supports auto-discovery and auto-register, user line testing, terminal ONU
fiber failure alert and power failure alert. It also contains abundant operation and
manageable features such as MAC address limited and leached, IP address limited and
leached, bandwidth control, VLAN, flow control.
Perfect Management Function
Support CLI, Telnet, GUI and SNMP management function; Support telenet upgrade on
line; support in-band/out-band management; support Telenet supervising and falut

HA7000 Rack
HA7000 is rack type OLT. HA7000 adopts 19 inch, 3U height rack, and supports dual-power
supply. The rack supports 8pcs HA7100/H7102 OLT cards. Each PON supports 32 ONU
access. It supports integrated management through the network management card.

HA7100 module card offers one PON port and one uplink Gigabit port, two management
ports. It works with HA7200 series terminal devices (ONU) and passive optical distribution
network (ODN), to establish a passive optic network.
HA7102 OLT Module Card

HA7102 module card offers two PON ports and two uplink Gigabit ports. Each PON port
supports 1:32 optic distribution, and maximum 64 ONUs. It applies to the China Telecom
EPON standards. It works with HA7200 ONU and passive optical splitter, to establish a
passive optic network.

HA7100 Series OLT

HA7001 Rack Type 1-PON OLT
HA7001 is a small rack type 1-PON OLT. It consists of a 1-PON OLT and the network
management card. HA7001 works with HA7200 series ONU and ODN to establish a
passive optic network.
The whole system supports 1-PON, and 32 terminal ONUs. It supports 10～20km
transmission distance at the base of high bandwidth, and supplies full line speed L2/L3
transition capacity.
HA7001 supports maximum 256 Logical Link Identifiers (LLID) and Dynamic Bandwidth
Allocation (DBA). It is adapt to small fiber access network, such as towns, villages, which
don’t have large quantity users. HA7001 system greatly lowers the cost to establish

HA7300 Series OLT
HA7300 OLT is central office equipment of GEPON system. It adopts CACT structure and
modular design. HA7300 OLT has port intensive, non-blocking wire-speed, high reliability
and high QoS characters. It is convenience for maintenance. 24 PON ports supply
24Gbps bandwidth, cooperating with HA7200 series ONU to support capacity expansion,
and meet customers’ different requirements. HA7300OLT is between user layer and
convergence layer, applies to FTTH/FTTB fiber access solutions and supplies bandwidths,
VOIP, IPTV and other services to users through one fiber.
Structure
HA7300 OLT offers kinds of modules and interfaces, mainly consists of uplink board, main
control switching board, and PON service board and hot-swap power supply.
Uplink board
Uplink board offers OLT communication port to uplink network equipments. It includes a
10GEuplink board and an opto-electronic hybrid uplink board.
10G uplink board: supply 1 channel 10G BASE-R (XFP) uplink port, 10Gbps data
transmitting rate, and allows 2pcs 10GE uplink boards inserted in.
Opto-electronic hybrid board: supply 4 GE SFP fiber ports and 2 channels Gigabit
electrical ports. Each fiber port supplies 1.25Gbps data transmitting rate, and each

electrical port supplies full duplex 1000Mbps data transmitting rate. It supports 4 or 2
channels fiber signals and 2 channels electrical signals.
Main control switching board

Main control switching board is based at 10GE Bus structure, to implement switching
function between uplink data and downlink data. It also supplies maintenance serial port
and ethernet port, to configure the switching module, control EPON system and manage
the services. It supports real-time supervising and configuration management. There are
two main control switching boards, supporting auto switching function.
PON service board

PON service board offers 4 GE PON fiber ports to connect downlink to ODN (optical
distribution network) and HA7200 series ONU to implement EPON access. It supplies
high bandwidth service access. Cooperating with main control switching board, implement
capability management, fault management, and configuration management. HA7300
supports maximum 6 PON service boards.
Hot-swap power supply

Centralized power supply to the equipment, adopts dual-power supply design, 0 switching
time, to assure uninterrupted work. It supports over voltage protection, make sure the high
reliability. Hop-swap power supply is isolated from other modules, convenient for change
the power supply.

Management Function
Network management system iCoreView of Shenzhen HiOSO is developed on the base
of SNMP V2c and compatible with SNMP V1. This software can monitor and manage the
related equipment of different machine rooms. This real-time management and

III ODN Optical Splitters

Overview
HiOSO Planar Light wave Circuit splitter (PLC splitter), supports maximum 1:32 splitter
ratio, with small size, wide operating wavelength range, low insertion loss, low PDL, high
return loss and uniformity splitter ratio.
Application
Splitter is a passive device used to connect OLT and ONU, distributing down link data and
integrating uplink data. The splitter includes an uplink fiber port and several downlink fiber
ports. Optical signal from uplink fiber port is distributed to all the downlink fiber ports, and
optical signal from downlink ports is assigned to the only one-uplink fiber port. There is
fiber loss existed during this process.
Splitter is installed in the fiber distribution box (indoor type or outdoor type); If MDU （Multi
Dwelling Unit） is distracted from each other and there is not enough fiber resource,
second level and multilevel splitter is supported.
To choose the splitter ratio, there is several conditions need to consider: EPON system
transmission distance, amount of MDU users, and bandwidth in the system. Usually, 1:32
splitter is better for FTTH/FTTB solution. Total amount is less than 512.

IV WDM
Profile
WDM is designed for EPON system, which includes OLT-WDM and ONU-WDM. It
supports multiplex/demultiplex 1550nm CATV signal and 1310/1490nm IP signal to a

V EPON+EOC Solution
Preface
Through 20 years development, China CATV network owns largest amount users in the
world. At the end of 2006, there are one hundred million CATV users (46 million in
country); about 3300pcs front terminals; 40,000KM national-level optical cable line, more
than 100,000km provincial/prefecture-level optical cable line, and 300,000km
prefecture/county distribution network. At the end for Q1th, 2007, there are 15 million
cable digital TV users. Several cities complete CATV digital integrated transformation, and
supply multi broadcasting services. Some network companies implemented broadband
data access, VOD and other bi-directional services.
However, there are 90% CATV network haven’t implemented bi-directional transformation.
It just meets the requirements of analog TV transmission, but can’t transmit multimedia
mutual services through the existed network.
CATV network meets fierce competition: Telecom network operate IPTV service, to win
CATV high medium-end customers; DBS service and DTV service scram for CATV
medium low-end customers. These competition is competition between high-bandwidth
and low-bandwidth, bi-directional network and unilateral network, multi-service and single
service, high cost and low cost. As fiber access to residential area, copper cable
transmission distance short to 100m, and development of multi service access technology,
the bandwidth advantage of coaxial network is losing. Unitary DTV integrated
transformation couldn’t change this situation. So, the future of CATV network is
developing bi-directional transmission services at the base of the huge existed HFC
network.

EPON Profile
EPON adopts point to multi-point topology structure, using fiber and passive components
for physical layer transmission and offering multi services bandwidth access technology at
the base of Ethernet protocols.
EPON system consists of an OLT (Optical Line Termination)), ONU (Optical Network Unit)
and ODN (Optical Distribution Network). ODN includes optical splitter and fiber. The
splitter is a passive device, used to connect the OLT and ONU, distributing downlink data
and integrate uplink data. EPON adopts 802.3 frame broadcast technology for downlink
data flow, and TDM technology for uplink data flow. EPON also adopts MPCP (multi-point
control protocol), as the data from uplink can be transmitted to only one user each
specified time.

HiOSO Bidirectional Transformation Solutions
EPON (Ethernet passive optical networks) adopts point to multi-point topology structure,
using fiber and passive component for physical layer transmission. It supplies multi
services through Ethernet protocols. EPON is a multi users shared system. EPON
integrates the advantage of PON technology and Ethernet network technology, with
simple topology structure, low cost, and no active devices between terminal end and
central office. EPON topology structure is like the CATV network structure, it can use
CATV network fiber line to transmit data service, saving network building cost. It is the
best solution for broadcasting TV network bi-directional transformation.
EOC is a general designation for the technologies, which use coaxial cable to transmit
Ethernet data. So, video, data and voice service can be transmitted together through one
coaxial cable. Downlink network transmits CATV and voice signal, uplink network
transmits data signal, so to supply a return path for bi-directional DTV platform.
