ASSIGNMENT TITLE: Generation of lift and drag forces

TASK: 01 (P3)

Safety:

1. Everybody should wear their rubber shoes.

2. No one should stand front side and back side of the tunnel when it is on.
3. Before putting the electrical plug, switch must be off.
4. Proper voltage should be ensured for the tunnel motor.

Procedure:
1. At first we connected the wing and chord and we balanced it
2. We find out the base and hypotenuse by scaling.
3. The marks of base and hypotenuse should be taken accurately.
4. From base and hypotenuse first we find out the AOA with the help of cosine.
5. Connecting with aerofoil horizontally ties up the spring scale and then mark
reference point on a table and then we find out the drag.
6. Subtraction initial reading from final reading, we find out the lift and drag.
7. We imagine the value of the drag is 0.5 kg always constant.
8. Weight of aerofoil 0.9 kg is added in the lift.

Measurement of AOA:

READING BASE(MM) HYPOTENUSE(MM) COSINE AOA AVERAGE

1 299 300 4.68 4

2 365 367 5.98 6 6

3 365 369 8.44 8

SLNO AOA LIFT(KG)

1 4 4.4

2 6 5.9

3 8 7.4
Graph: Lift vs. AOA

The value of AOA plotted the X axis and the value of lift plotted the Y axis.

SL NO AOA DRAG(KG)

1 4 1.5

2 6 1.75

3 8 2

Graph: AOA Vs. Drag

The value of AOA plotted the X axis and the value of drag plotted the Y axis.

SL NO LIFT (KG) DRAG (KG)

1 4.4 1.5
2 5.9 1.75
3 7.4 2

The value of lift plotted the X axis and the value of drag plotted the Y axis.
Graph: LIFT vs. DRAG

The value of lift plotted the X axis and the value of drag plotted the Y axis.

Note:

1. Curve is not accurate because of the mechanical error.

2. There is a little friction of the chord.
