WPRO Dengue Situation Update, 15 Feb 2011

Data up to week ending 5 Feb 2011 (latest data variable by country)

Dengue activity has been overall low among WPR countries with local
dengue transmission.

The table is based on the number of reported cases. Dengue reporting systems vary by country and
any change in the surveillance system over time is not reflected in the above figures.

Australia: 149 cases (0 deaths) in Jan 2011, 43 cases reported for Jan 2010.
Number of reported cases has been stable since Nov 2010.

Cambodia: 74 cases (1 death; CFR 1.4%) up to end of week 4 in 2011, with low
activity since Aug 2010; 76 cases (1 death) in 2010 for the same period.

Lao PDR: 94 cases (0 deaths) up to 5 Feb 2011, with overall low activity since
peaking in Aug 2010; 333 cases in 2010 for the same period.

Malaysia: 2 471 cases (5 deaths; CFR 0.2%) in 2011 up to 5 Feb, with relatively
low number of cases since Aug 2010; 5234 cases (14 deaths) in 2010 for the same
period.

Philippines: 2207 cases (9 deaths, CFR 0.4%) in 2011 up to 22 Jan, with


relatively low activity since Aug 2010; 5394 cases in 2010 for the same period;
however, weeks 2 and 3 in 2011 are still partial reports.

Singapore: 357 cases (0 deaths) in 2011 up to 5 Feb, with number of reported


cases overall declining since Dec 2010; 475 cases in 2010 for the same period.

Viet Nam: 109 304 cases (84 deaths, CFR 0.08%) reported from 1 Jan to 30 Nov
2010. In Nov 2010, 20,684 cases and 19 deaths were reported.
