Crime Prevention Works!

Crime Prevention Works! Jacksonville, NC is about to prevent crime in a whole new way. Through the
use of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design or CPTED, the National Crime Prevention Council
will help the New River-Davis Street Corridor Weed and Seed site “design out” problem crime areas and
address challenges created by abandoned homes and foreclosed properties through training and technical
assistance. CPTED’s goal is to prevent crime through designing a physical environment that positively
influences human behavior. It is based on four principles: natural access control, natural surveillance,
territorial reinforcement, and maintenance. Through an intensive hands-on two-day training program,
you will learn innovative approaches to resolving tough crime issues specifically tailored to meet our
community’s needs.
