CASE NUMBER: 91-01-00585 CRIME: HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION WITNESS: CLIFFORD CRAWFORD INVESTIGATING OFFICER: DETECTIVE WOODROOF DAVIE POLICE DEPARTMENT. The time is 7:07 PM, the date is 09 January 1991. This statement is being taken from Clifford Madison Crawford Sr., white male, date of birth 07- 11-65. His address is 7510 Atlanta Street in Hollywood. This statement is being taken by Detective Kelly Woodroof I.D. number 194 of the Davie Police Department anc by conducted Davie case number 91 about the 05 January 1991. WOODROOF: Mr. Crawford, at this time | would like to place you under oath by virtue of my position as a police officer in the State of Florida. Would you raise your right hand please? Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth so help you God? CRAWFORD: Yes, | do. WOODROOF: Okay, you can lower your hand now. Ahh, Mr. Crawford are you algo aware that it is a crime under Florida State Statutes to knowingly give false information while under oath? CRAWFORD: Yes, | do. WOODROOF: Okay, Mr. Crawford how are you employed? CRAWFORD: I'm employed by Q-Masters Billiard Club in Davie Florida WOODROOF: Okay, and what do you do there? CRAWFORD: I'm a bouncer. WOODROOF: Okay, umm let me refresh your memory, the 4th of January is a Friday, ah did you work there that night? CRAWFORD: 9:30. WOODROOF: Okay, and tell me what you did that night. CRAWFORD: Ahh, came into the bar, ah went behind the bar and got the door tacks, went to the front door and | sat there and start- ed taking ID's from customers coming in. WOODROOF: Okay, and how long did you work at the door? CRAWFORD: | worked at the door from ah 9:30 till a quarter till two in the morning. id your shift start? WOODROOF: Okay, why did you leave the door? CRAWFORD: Ahh, it was-getting slow, so | leave the door when it gets slow and | walk about the bar. WOODROOF: Okay, were there many people in the bar that night? CRAWFORD: No there was not. WOODROOF: Okay, ah how long had it been like that? CRAWFORD: For a good hour. WOODROOF: Okay, so it's safe to say that there were very people in the bar. CRAWFORD: * Yes.* WOODROOF: “Ahh, can you say in all honesty that you saw everybody who was in the bar that night? CRAWFORD: Yes | did. WOODROOF: Okay, so if a person were in the bar for say thirty minutes to and hour you have seen them? CRAWFORD: Yes. WOODROOF: _ Okay, Mr Crawford at this time I’m going to show you two photographs. On the back of one is the name Joseph Jansen On the back of the other is the name David Gilliland. Have you ever seen either of those individuals before? CRAWFORD: No | haven’t_- WOODROOF: Okay, do you know either one of those individuals? Are you acquainted with them? CRAWFORD: No, I'm not. WOODROOF: Okay, were either one of those individuals in Q-Master's at any time on Friday the 4th of January or the morning there after during your shift the Sth of January? “PAGE 4 CASE NUMBER 91-01-00585 - CLIFFORD CRAWFORD e CRAWFORD: No, they were not. WOODROOF: Okay, again, were you in a position to see anybody coming in to the bar? CRAWFORD: Yes, I would. Do you know an individual by the name of Richard Penney? Yes | do. Okay, did he come into the bar that night? Yes, he did. Okay, was he with anybody? No, he was not. Okay, can you think of anything else that you'd like to add to your statement at this time? The only thing there was um, I took Richard home in the morning with | and the other bouncer in the bar. When we closed there was, ah myself, the another bouncer, Richard, the bartender, a bar maid from Club Elvis, and an- other bartender from ah, I forget which bar he works at but there was another gentleman there and two paying patrons in there. Okay, what ti Approximately, we locked the door about ten minutes after 6:00 AM. Is that a little early for your closing time for you on Satur- day morning? Yes, it is we normally close at 9:00 AM Okay, why did you close early? It was slow in the bar. Okay, do you frequently close early? No, we do not. So is it safe-for me to say that since you closed early this would be a shift that you would be more inclined to remem- ber people from? Yes. Okay, is there anything else that you would like to add?
