Haiti: Funding Raised & Spent

As a part of the Haiti Aid Map initiative (http://www.haitiaidmap.org), InterAction asked members
responding to the January 12 earthquake in Haiti to provide information on the amount of funding
raised and spent for the emergency from private, U.S. government and other sources. Organizations
received the following guidance:

Private Funding Raised: Includes funding from individuals, corporations and foundations. Should not
include private funding received from other NGOs.

Other Funding Raised: Includes funding from multilaterals (e.g. World Bank, UN agencies) and other
official bilateral donors (e.g. Australian Agency for International Development (AusAid), Japan
International Cooperation Agency (JICA)).

Funding Spent: Amount of funding spent on implementation of aid activities (e.g. procurement of goods,
provision of services, salaries, etc.). In order to prevent double counting, transfers or pass-throughs to
other organizations should not be counted as “spent.”

The figures below reflect the most up-to-date information InterAction was able to obtain from 66 of its
member organizations. They do not represent funding information from all members working in Haiti.
