InterAction Framework for Strengthening NGO Capacity to Address Sexual

Exploitation and Abuse and Gender-Based Violence

Mentorship Program
Terms of Reference

A key activity of InterAction’s NGO capacity strengthening project on SEA is the provision
of face-to-face trainings for NGO personnel to build their skills and knowledge base in
addressing SEA. One gap that has been identified within the NGO community is the
availability of skilled NGO staff who can facilitate trainings for their own organizations and
other members of the NGO community.

In an effort to expand the number of skilled trainers on SEA within the InterAction
membership, this project features a component that allows for the mentorship of SEA NGO
trainers. Each workshop will be led by a highly skilled facilitator who will work with co-
facilitators who are staff from InterAction member organizations, giving “junior” facilitators
the opportunity to learn and/or strengthen facilitation skills and be mentored by an
experienced facilitator.

Mentorship profile

Any staff of an InterAction member organization is eligible to apply for participation in the
mentorship program. Specifically, the following characteristics are welcomed:

• You play a role as a trainer in your organization on a related topic and would like to
build your skills in SEA.
• You are engaged in SEA work in your organization and would like to build your
skills as a trainer.
• You are based in or travel to areas where you would have the opportunity to train
on SEA.

Expectations

You will be expected to meet with the lead facilitator prior to the workshop, as well debrief
afterward. Your role will be to be a co-facilitator throughout the workshop(s).

While the mentorship program does not require that you commit to any future training
duties, it is expected that once you have completed the mentorship, your name will be
placed on a roster to be tapped for future trainings for the InterAction NGO community.

Benefits

This mentorship program offers a unique opportunity to be partnered with senior trainers
who are both highly skilled in facilitation as well as the subject area. You will have the
chance to gain on-the-job experience, as well as have targeted constructive guidance and
feedback from the lead facilitator.

Participants in the mentorship program will be given priority for travel subsidy assistance, if
needed.
