University Dr., Davie, Fl, in reference to a crash involving a pedestrian, Upon arrival, Davie Police Sgt. M. Johnston observed a white male, later identified a: Jonathan P. As Sgt. Johnston approached Ensign, Sgt. Johnston asked "what happened?’ . Ensign then pointed tovard a white Cadillac Escalade which was parked in front of Club Eden and replied "the guys in that vehicle ran him over". sgt. Johnston then walked toward the Cadillac. As he neared the Cadillac he observed several people in the area including a white male subject, who was seated on the ground weat of the Escalade. Sgt. Johnston again asked "what happened?” The white male who was seated on the ground replied "they tried to rob me so I ran him over". This subject was subsequently identified as Reynaldo Rodriguez (H/M 09-11-78). As other, Officers arrived, Nine people to include witnesses were separated and their activiti. not discuss the incident with each other, Davie Fire/Rescue personnel arrived and Jonathan Corso was transported to Broward General Medical Center. Jonathan Corso was pronounced deceased at 4:34am. Your affiant, a Detective with the Davie Folice Department was contacted and directed te respond to conduct an investigation, I directed that all witnesses be transported to the Davie P.D. for the taking of sworn statements. These statements were taken by Davie Detectives m. Hernandez, M. Groeneveld, J. Corns and M. Williams, Davie Crime Scene Technician G. Cortolillo responded to the scene to photograph, Process and collect evidence. What appeared to be blood was observed on several areas of the vehicles’ exterior, Upon completion of the scene processing, the aforementioned Cadillac was towed to the secure storage bay at the Davie Police Department. Based on the witness’ sworn statements, it is believed that the following events transpired: Jonathan Corso exited the club with his friends, Jose Canpos, Jonathan Olsen and Alexander Vahan. They walked to the northwest corner of the parking lot where fampos” Podge pick-up truck and Vahan‘s Honda Accord were parked. Vahan and Olsen got into the Accord and Campos got into the pick-up. Jonathan Corso stood between both vehicles talking to his friends. A Cadillac, which was being ériven by Francisco Chollet, with the defendant, Reynaldo Rodriguez, occupying the front passenger seat, pulled up behind the pick-up and Accord, facing west. When asked by Corso "whate’ up 7h, Chollet responded "I thought you were a bitch". Corso and Choliet then exchanged words. Chollet and Rodriguez then exited the Cadillac to confront Corso. Vahan, Olsen and Campos then exited their vehicles and approached Chollet and Rodriguez. Chollet and Rodriguez then got back into the Cadillac. Again, words were exchanged between Corso and Chollet. During this exchange, Corso was spat at by Chollet. Rodriguez claims that Corso spat at him. Rodriguez and Chollet then exited the Cadillac and engaged in a physical altercation with Corso and his friends. In his sworn taped statement, witness Jason Ostrander advised that he cbserved the Escalade "cone flying backwards in reverse, ran over a guy, went inte Gzive, and drove over him again." the Cadillac then drove around the parking lot and Parked in front of the building. in his "post Miranda" statement, Reynaldo Rodrigue advised that he did not look at his vear view ox side view mirrors prior to or while backing the vehicle. He said he stopped the vehicle when he heard the window break. On duly 28, 2010, Associate Medical Examiner, Rebecca MacDougall, M.D. performed a post ‘mortem examination en Jonathan Corso. The post mortem examination revealed that Jonathan Corso died as a result of multiple blunt force trauma to the head, trunk and extremities. Om August 24, 2010, the Search Warrant for the aforementioned Cadillac Eecalade wae obtained. This Search Warrant authorized an ASE certified Master Mechanic, to perform a mechanical inspection of the Cadillac and someone certified to do so, to retrieve the information stored in the vehicles Airbag Control Module (ACH). On September 2, 2010, the Search Warrant was executed. The date revealed that the driver applied 100% of the accelerator pedal at -2.5 seconds, and then released the pedal for the remainder -2.0 seconds. The brake switch wae "off" for 52:5 and -2.0 seconds then went to the “on” position from -1.5 seconds until the event. ‘The vehicle reached a maximum speed of 19 mph at -2.0 seconds and slowed to 16 mph at “0.5 seconds. The data indicated that the vehicle was impacted at the rear-end. Based on the aforementioned information, your affiant has Probable Cause to believe that Reynaldo Rodriguez operated the aforementioned Cadillac Escalade in « reckless manner. While doing so the vehicle, while in reverse atruck and then ran over Jonathan Corso.
