Chains and Rings

Need to Have:
5.5mm crochet hook
Double knitting wool – each hat is worked with two
strands held together and takes approx 100gs

Need to Know:
ch – chain
st - stitch
slst – slip stitch
dc – double crochet
htc – half treble crochet
tc – treble crochet
Need to Do:

Crown
ch 4, slst into 1st to form a ring

ch 2, (does not count as 1st tr here or for the rest of

the pattern), 12 tc into ring, slst into 1st tc to join

ch 2, 2 tc in same st, 2 tc in each tc around, slst into

1st tc to join

ch 2, tc in same st, * 2 tc in next st, 1 tc in next st,

rep from * to last st, 2 tc, slst into 1st tc to join

ch 2, tc in same st, 1 tc, * 2 tc in next st, 1 tc, 1 tc,

rep from * to last st, 2 tc, slst into 1st tc to join

ch 2, tc in same st, 1 tc, 1 tc, * 2 tc in next st, 1 tc,

1 tc, 1tc, rep from * to last st, 2 tc, slst into 1st tc
to join
Body

Row 1 – ch 2, tc in same st, * ch 6, don't skip any sts,

6 tc, rep from * all the way round, tc in last 5 sts,
slst into 1st tc to join.

Row 2 – 6 – repeat row 1

Forming the chains

For each group of chain take the second chain through the
first, then the third through the second and so on.

Row 1 - ch 1, dc in same st, work 6 dc in last 6 chain

loop, 1 dc in each of the tc of the last row, repeat this
all the way round to the last 5 sts, 1 dc in each of the
last 5 sts, slst into 1st dc to join

Row 2 – ch 1 dc in same st, work 3 dc in the fifth 6

chain loop, 6 dc, 3 dc in next fifth 6 chain loop, repeat
in this manner all the way round. 1 dc in the last 5 sts,
slst into 1st dc to join.

Row 3 – ch 2, tc in same st, 1 tc in each st all the way

round, slst into 1st tc to join.
Final row – ch 1, dc in same st, dc in each st all way
round, slst into 1st dc to join, fasten off.

Sew in ends and you're finished.
