It shows the index value, inflation rate as a percentage change from the previous year, and volatility in inflation rates over this time period. Inflation rates were generally higher in the 1970s and early 1980s, peaked at over 12% in 1980, and have declined since then to under 3% in recent years. Volatility in inflation rates also decreased significantly from the high levels of the 1970s.
