+ REVOLTING RHYMES by ROALD DAHL

3. WHILE-READING ACTIVITIES (30 minutes)

a) Pupils read the story for themselves with help of dictionaries - because of some
unknown words. There is also one passage with gaps - pupils have to fill them
in according to the sense and rhyming (box with words next to the text)
(I would not pre-teach the vocabulary because it could destroy the moment of
surprise when reading the story.)
b) Reading the story together, checking the gap-filling and explaining some
confusing passages
4. POST-READING ACTIVITIES (45 minutes)
a) Comparing the version by Roald Dahl with the traditional fairy tale (focusing
on similarities and differences)
b) Pupils draw a comics based on Roald Dahl’s story (work in groups of 3-4)
c) Watch the online version of the fairy tale on YouTube.com (reading
accompanied by pictures)
