What are the optimal step-by-step processes? These should:


• Help people work together smoothly.
• Eliminate non-value-added activities and minimize wait time.
• Provide sufficient flexibility in adjusting to unexpected
stakeholder demands and other contingencies.

2. Right Structure

What are the optimal organizational relationships, floor layouts, etc.?


This structure should ensure that:
• The right reporting relationships are in place.
• People have the right responsibilities.
• People who most need to work together are members of the
same group.

3. Right People

Who gets hired and how are they trained? To get the right people,
ensure that you:

• Include and select people with the needed attributes that are the
most difficult to teach.
• Deliver training on a need-to-perform basis that is directly linked
to key responsibilities.
• Provide opportunities for employees to develop and use multiple
skills.

4. Right Information

Who gets to know what and when? The right information should:

• Flow first to the people who most need to act on it.


• Be readily accessible and accurate.

5. Right Decisions

Who gets to decide and how? The right decisions can be made when
you:
• Ensure that the best choices are made.
• Ensure that decisions are made by those who have the
expertise.

6. Right Rewards

Who gets what rewards and why? The right rewards:


• Clearly reinforce the behaviors and results that are most critical
to meeting stakeholders needs and other demands.
• Provide a clear incentive for everyone to help each other
succeed.
• Are perceived as fair, simple, clear and meaningful.
