Previous Shell Health, Safety, Security and Environment Standards

With the launch of the Shell Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) & Social
Performance (SP) Control Framework* in 2009, we simplified and clarified our
environmental and social requirements.

Previously our HSSE standards contained detailed requirements. We now have a


simplified set of standards that define high level principles and expectations for how we
operate.

A set of mandatory manuals includes more detailed requirements to help our staff put
our standards into practice. The manuals contain all of the HSSE and SP requirements we
have followed in the past, such as our industry-first biodiversity standard.

The following HSSE standards have been replaced with manuals from our HSSE & SP
Control Framework:
