Donations put
Labor in the
hot seat

Developers have poured thousands of dollars into the
campaigns of Canada Bay Labor politicians, with
councillors and Member for Drummoyne Angela
D’Amore receiving large donations from developers
involved with local projects.
The donations culture in the State Labor Party has
been under scrutiny this month following the sack-
ing of Wollongong Council after an Independent
Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) inquiry.
In response, NSW Premier Morris Iemma vowed
to tighten political donation regulations in the lead
up to September’s local government elections.
In last year’s State election, Ms D’Amore received
more than $25,000 in political donations, much of
which was from developers and local hotels.
