Saints

A Poem By Dante Dapolonia

we seek of saints because we

are not
the hero
golden boy
princess of redeemed souls
and chained
in our dark cave
we lust
and beg
for shadows
as if ah yes
as if
speaking now of words
as small as this
the breath of an infant
as if the shadows
were not real
not us
not the dreams we have
become
