This document describes an experiment to study the gases released during respiration and photosynthesis.
In the respiration experiment, two test tubes are set up, one in light (X) and one in dark (Y). Both show a color change indicating gas is released. Tube Z shows no change. This shows gas is released in light and dark, but not in the absent of organisms.
The photosynthesis experiment has similar method and finds gas collects in tube X in light but not Y in dark. This shows gas is released during photosynthesis, which only occurs in light.
Overall the experiments demonstrate that gas is released during both respiration by organisms in light and dark, and photosynthesis, which only occurs in light
