THE TUNGUSKA EVENT.

By

David Calvert.

A fearful light shone in men’s eyes and burned down in their souls
As upon them came a darkness, a darkness black as coal.
A stunning roar ripped through their ears as from their feet they were borne
Upon a mighty wind of death on the brisk Tunguska morn’.

In a devastating explosion, five miles above the ground, the fireball tore
Asunder and death came raining down.
At four hundred miles the boatmen of Kansk were hurled into the Kan,
And at one hundred more the houses shook as on the shockwave ran.

And all that had been metal had melted in the heat, and all that had been
Flesh and blood was burning sickly sweet.
The trees had been uprooted and the foliage from them torn when the
Devastating comet lit up the gentle dawn.

Much life had been extinguished in the blinking of an eye, and the nights
Were likened to the days as the months drew slowly by.
Like an apocalyptic angel bringing forth it’s mighty hand, a terrifying
Carnage had been wrought upon the land.
