Adobe had announced at Mobile World Congress 2010 about the launch of Adobe AIR by the end of
this year which would support mobile devices. It lived up to its words launching Adobe AIR for the
Android platform. Now, with the launch of it, Adobe AIR is available on phones running Android 2.2
and above. Adobe AIR has received positive response as it has been downloaded one million times since
its official tie-up with Android.
Adobe AIR has opened new avenues for developers since; it allows them to use HTML, JavaScript,
Adobe Flash Software and ActionScript to create web applications without any browser connection. With
the help of Adobe AIR and Flash, it becomes easier for developers to reuse the single development
platform and existing code to build the applications quickly. These applications run outside the browser,
across the multiple screens, devices and platforms. By posting AIR to the Android market, Adobe
enables the developers to build and distribute their applications to Android smart phones and tablets.
The popularity of Android-based SmartPhones is increasing in the market every day. It is an open
source software which offers salient features for the end users like GSM, EDGE, CDMA, Bluetooth,
video camera, touch screen, GPS, accelerometer, and magnetometer. Android has changed the dimension
of the mobile development industry by providing feature-rich mobile devices.
