NORMS FOR MAINTENANCE OF CAPITAL ASSETS

( a) Norms for the Maintenance of Irrigation Works.

Norms for the Maintenance of various types of Irrigation works are as follows:-

ii) Lift

The Government is adopting the above prescribed Norms, as per the recommendation
of the Tenth Finance Commission for maintenance of various types of major and medium
irrigation works. Provision are being made by State Government in the budget every year as
per the above norms. The norms are in force from 1995-96.

(b) Maintenance of field channels under legislation in force relating to irrigation:

No fee as levy has been collected from the beneficiaries of irrigation for maintenance of
field channels by Panchayats, Panchayat Unions and no amount has been realised in each year
since 1990-91 till date.

(c) Norms for the flood Embankment Maintenance

No specific norms for expenditure on the maintenance of field embankments have been
made so far. Maintenance works are being carried out based on the allotment of funds every
year and also the nature of work involved depending on flood damages.
